Mandatory to all newcomers to Offutt AFB. Held the first Wednesday of each month. Be informed of the Wing's unique mission, meet agency reps and get training on required items. More than 29 base agencies and private organizations provide information, answer your questions and provide freebies to attendees. Held in conjunction with the Right Start Program. Family members are encouraged to attend.

Welcome to Offutt Air Force Base, home of the 55th Wing (the Fightin' Fifty-Fifth), and a variety of tenant units, including U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), the 557th Weather Wing and the Heartland of America Band. Officer and Enlisted Housing Area - Rising View is located two miles west of Offutt AFB and offers a variety of housing styles for junior NCOs, senior NCOs, company grade officers, field grade officers and senior officers. The majority of the community consists of two-story duplex homes with a two-car garage. Other home styles vary and may include single-level duplex homes with a single-car garage. Each newly constructed and/or renovated home is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, dishwasher, microwave and central air conditioning. Bellevue Public Schools - is the fourth largest school district in Nebraska. Serving 9,800 students in the Bellevue/Offutt community, BPS has 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 2 senior high schools. The average class size in grades K-3 is 20, and 22.6 in grades 4-6. Students must be five years of age by October 15 to enroll in kindergarten.Secondary schools include college prep and vocational classes, award winning special education and high ability learner (gifted) programs. Each year their students bring home metro, state and national awards in such diverse fields as music, JROTC, English, auto mechanics and athletics. Papillion-LaVista Schools - serve the Papillion, LaVista and Offutt community, just minutes from the base. PLSD has 2 high schools, 1 alternative school, two junior high schools and 14 elementary schools serving 9,400 students. One of the largest school districts in the state, their focus is "Excellence ... one student at a time."PLSD offers Early Childhood services, an English Language Learner Program (for students whose first language is not English), high ability learner programs and special education programs. The General Crook House is the authentically restored quarters of General George Crook at historic Fort Omaha. General George Crook was a Civil War & National Indian Wars hero. Henry Doorly Zoo was named the Best Zoo in America according to Reader's Digest, May 2004 edition.
